WHY USE INFANTS’ MYLICON DAILY PROBIOTICS?

What Are Probiotics?

Dietary supplements containing probiotics have become commonplace for adults, children, and, yes, even babies. But what exactly are they? First, let’s get down to the basics.

Our bodies are home to more than 100 trillion bacteria, some of which are “friendly” bacteria known as probiotics. Out of the more than 400 probiotic strains present in our bodies, only about 20 account for 75% of all of them. These little buggers help us digest and absorb nutrients, and support our immune systems, among other natural processes. Probiotics are a vital component of your baby’s digestive system; the same goes for the development of their immune system. These “good” bacteria are introduced to babies’ guts through breast milk, formula, and the eventual food they eat.

Different types of probiotics often act in different ways, depending on the strain of probiotic used. (Think of the term “probiotics” as an umbrella, similar to saying “tomato.” It encompasses all kinds of tomatoes, but doesn’t in itself define whether it’s referring to a cherry, plum, or grape tomato.) In short, the World Health Organization (WHO) defines probiotics as: “live microorganisms which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host.” These bacteria aren’t just friendly, they’re downright helpful.

Still skeptical? Supplements cannot legally be called probiotics unless there’s documented scientific evidence of their health benefits. So, don’t just take our word for it—trust the science.

How Do Probiotics Work?

Fun fact: 80% of the immune system is located in the gut. Not only does your baby’s digestive system contribute to fighting off infection with a healthy immune system, it practically calls the shots! When taken daily, the strain of probiotic in Mylicon can help replenish “good” bacteria, which supports immunity, promotes healthy digestion, and even reduces crying and fussiness associated with colic by at least 50% over time. Incredible, right?

And science isn’t done with them yet. Their effectiveness is also being studied for other health uses such as helping specific immune system issues, like preventing eczema.

What Do Probiotics Do?

Probiotics benefit your baby in many ways, some which may surprise you. A clinical, peer-reviewed, published study has shown that daily use of our Infants’ Mylicon Daily Probiotic Drops supports immunity and promotes healthy digestion. Now, get ready for the WOW factor. One recent study showed that our probiotic drops can be effective at helping to manage colic. Unlike babies who received a placebo, a greater percentage of colicky babies who were given our probiotic experienced a 50% or more reduction in daily crying and fussiness over time. Mind. Blown.

There’s a reason Mylicon is a leading pediatric digestive health brand. Just like our flagship product, Infants’ Mylicon Gas Relief Drops, the #1 pediatrician-recommended brand, “Moms who know, know Mylicon.”

Can Probiotics Help Manage Colic?

Are Mylicon® Probiotic Drops Safe?

Probiotics are generally well-tolerated, including in infants. The Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis probiotic in our daily probiotic drops for babies has been used safely in food and dietary supplements since 1985, with no reported serious adverse events.

However, it’s important to note that probiotics may not be for every infant. If your baby was born prematurely, takes any medication, or has immune problems, be sure to talk to your pediatrician about giving your baby probiotics.

Does Mylicon Have Side Effects?

You may be wondering if there are any possible side effects associated with giving your baby probiotics. Rest assured: The Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis probiotic in our daily probiotics for babies is the most researched probiotic strain in the world. It’s been used safely in food and dietary supplements since 1985, with no reported serious adverse events.

That said, if your baby was premature, takes any medication, or has immune problems, talk to your pediatrician before giving them probiotics.

When Can My Baby Start Mylicon Probiotics?

There’s no holding your breath here. You can start your little one on our probiotics for babies from the time they’re born. They’re safe in both newborns and older infants. But, if your infant was born premature or has any immune problems, check with your pediatrician first.

Should I Give My Baby Probiotics Everyday?

This one is a resounding, yes! As with any healthy habit, consistency is key. You’ll want to be sure to give them to your baby every day. Otherwise, they won’t work as efficiently. And, if you stop giving them entirely, the probiotics’ benefits may subside over time. You’ll also need to practice a bit of patience when you start probiotic usage; like any supplement, they need time to start working.

How Is Mylicon Different From Other Probiotic Drops?

Our probiotic drops contain one of the most researched probiotic strains: Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis. This probiotic strain has an established history of safety and beneficial use. It’s been used safely in food and dietary supplements since 1985, with no reported serious adverse events. Remember this as well: Moms who know, know Mylicon.

INFANTS’ MYLICON PROBIOTICS USAGE

How Do I Give My Infants’ Mylicon Probiotic Drops?

For your little one to start reaping all the benefits our probiotics have to offer, start by vigorously shaking the bottle to be sure any probiotic that has sunk to the bottom is mixed thoroughly. Then, give them six drops each day, all at once. You can add them to a bottle of formula or breast milk, or dispense them with a spoon. If your baby is more than six months old, you can also mix them into a small amount of cool water. Just don’t microwave them or mix the drops with hot water.

If you breastfeed, you can also apply them directly onto your nipple for your baby to suckle up while breastfeeding. (Keep in mind, you should always stick to the recommended dose of six drops per day—no more, no less.)

When done, screw the cap tightly back on the bottle to help maintain the drops’ freshness. To ensure full potency, use all the formula in the bottle within 28 days after opening. After all, probiotics are live microorganisms, and in order for them to help you and your baby, it’s best they stay that way.

Can I Give Mylicon Probiotic Drops To My Baby If I Breastfeed?

Yep! Just apply the dose of six drops directly onto your nipple while breastfeeding for your baby to suckle up.

What Should I Do If My Baby Gets More Than The Recommended Dose?

If your baby takes more than the recommended daily dose of six drops, please consult your pediatrician.

STORAGE

How Should I Store Mylicon Probiotic Drops?

To maintain maximum effectiveness, store them around room temperature (between 68° and 77° F). We don’t recommend using them if they are stored outside of those parameters.

Any Advice on How To Keep Them Out of Children’s Reach?

Of course! Like other medications, you can help keep them out of little hands’ way by storing them in a place they can’t reach. Some children climb things like toilets or cabinets, so it’s best to keep them in a locked cabinet. Try to remember to put them away after every use. And, dispose of old product in a way your child can’t reach it—like by taking it to a drop off location such as your local pharmacy.
